HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid is a nationally recognised unit of competency that provides learners with the skills and knowledge required to respond to a first aid emergency in a workplace or community setting. This course prepares participants to recognise, assess, and manage a range of medical emergencies until professional medical help arrives.
The course is suitable for people working in a wide range of industries including healthcare, disability support, aged care, education, childcare, construction, hospitality, sport and fitness, security, retail, and office environments. It is also ideal for job seekers, volunteers, and anyone wanting the confidence to help in an emergency.

This course is delivered through a blended learning model, combining online learning with a practical assessment session. The online component allows learners to complete the theory at their own pace, while the practical session ensures they can demonstrate essential life-saving skills such as CPR, using an automated external defibrillator (AED), treating injuries, and responding to medical emergencies.

- Learners will develop the ability to:
- Recognise and assess emergency situations
- Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Use an AED
- Manage bleeding, shock, fractures, burns, and other injuries
- Respond to medical conditions such as asthma, anaphylaxis, seizures, and cardiac arrest
- Follow workplace first aid procedures and reporting requirements

On successful completion of all theory and practical assessment requirements, learners will receive a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid, which is nationally recognised across Australia and accepted by employers and regulators.

This course meets current workplace health and safety requirements and is suitable for both first-time learners and those renewing their first aid certification.
